The reviewers are recommended by the editorial board members. The editorial board members themselves sometimes perform as the reviewer. The reviewers are usually Korean Studies professors from different universities around the world. The editorial board members try to find reviewers, whose expertise match the topic of the submitted article. Meanwhile, per double-blind policy, the reviewers and the contributors will not know each other. The name of the contributor is erased when the article is delivered to the reviewer; in the same vein, the reviewer's name will be erased when the completed review is delivered to the contributor.

검토위원들은 편집국 멤버들께서 추천하여 선정됩니다. 편집국 멤버들께서 직접 검토에 참여하실 수도 있습니다. 검토위원들은 주로 세계의 여러 대학의 한국학 전공 교수님들입니다. 편집국은 최대한 투고된 논문의 주제와 가까운 학문을 전공하시는 검토위원을 선정하려 노력합니다. 또한, 서울저널은 이중 은폐 방침을 쓰기에 검토위원과 논문투고자는 서로를 알 수 없게 되어있습니다. 투고자의 이름은 검토위원에게 논문이 전송되기 전에 문서에서 삭제되며, 검토위원의 이름 또한 최종 검토 이후 논문이 투고자에게 환송될 때 삭제됩니다.

It is up to the author to find a translator for his/her work. You may ask the International Center for Korean Studies at Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies for possible assistance in locating a potential translator; however, there is no guarantee that a translator would be available.

번역가는 투고자께서 직접 찾으셔야 합니다. 규장각 국제한국학세터를 통해서 번역 도움을 문의할 수 있으나, 번역가를 구할 수 있는 것은 장담할 수 없습니다.

As long as your paper is relevant to Korean Studies, with sound argument and written in appropriate English – and most importantly, not previously published in another journal – your work will be considered for possible publication. Inter-disciplinary works are highly encouraged. Topics that are rather new and relatively under-researched, such as pre-modern Korean history, are also welcome. Some of the most popular topics are the Korean War and colonial history.

이전에 출판된 적이 없는 한국학 관련 연구서이며 확실한 논의와 문법과 문맥이 자연스러운 영문으로 쓰여있다면 기재 대상으로 고려될 것입니다. 학제간의 논문을 권장하며, 전근대 한국사 등 아직 연구가 비교적 충분히 진행되지 않은 주제를 다루는 논문들도 환영합니다. 특히 인기가 많은 연구 주제들은 한국전쟁과 식민지 시기 역사 등이 있습니다.

Yes. As long as your work is good, with the right topic and sound argument and written in appropriate English, you are welcome to submit your work. We have had Ph.D. candidates in the past, who wrote an article based on his or her M.A. dissertation, and had their work published in the journal.

가능합니다. 한국학 연구에 부합하는 주제와 우수한 논리전개가 뒷받침되어야 합니다. 아울러 영문은 문법과 문맥이 자연스럽고 논리 정연해야 합니다. 박사 과정생들 중 자신의 석/박사 졸업논문을 토대로 글을 작성하고 서울저널에 투고하여 기재된 사례가 있습니다.

We only accept English manuscripts. SJKS is an English journal. If you wish you submit an article written in a language other than English, you must have your work translated to English. It is up to the contributor find a translator for his/her work.

서울저널은 영문 저널인 관계로, 영문으로 작성한 논문만 접수합니다. 혹 다른 언어로 작성된 논문을 투고하고자 하실 경우, 우선 영문으로 번역을 하신 후 투고해주셔야 합니다. 번역자를 찾는 것은 논문 투고자의 소관입니다.
